DescriptionCarved maple wood or alder rattle in the shape of a Raven with a wolf/human transformation figure reclining on the Raven's back. The Wolf/human figure extends its tongue into the beak of a facing bird head. An abstracted hawk or thunderbird is carved on the underside of the rattle, on the Raven's belly. The rattle is carved from a single piece of wood, split into two pieces on the underside of the Raven's wings and extending through the handle. The inside portions are deeply hollowed out and contain a few pebbles. The two pieces of the rattle are stitched together on each side and bound with two-twined spruce root in two sections along the handle. The figures are deeply carved- the Wolf human figure floats above the Raven's back attached only at the head, elbows and feet.On View
