Descriptionfor killing halibut, carved from a single piece of wood (crabapple according to Newcombe). globular head is carvved from a burl and slightly curved handle from the attached branch. handle is roughly circular in cross section with faceted proximal end. protruding distal end of head is carved with a face with rounded skull, long sloping forehead, slightly curved incised eyebrows, concave u shaped cheek area beneath lenticular shaped eyesockets outlined in slight relief, circular iris carved in relief within concave centre of eyesockets, rounded protruding snouth with two deep circular depressions forming nostrils, deeply incised u shaped mouth with flat oval chin. deep circular depression in centre of head.On View
