Descriptionwalking cane with curved shaft of hardwood. ivory handle in form of persons right hand holding a gambling stick which is inlaid at the ends with abalone shell. rounded ring of ivory below hand, top of wood. encircled by tarnished silver ring incised with killerwhale design. it is said that it was made over one hundered years ago by an Alaska Haida. the carving was done with indidan tools made from the copper the indians found. obtained from an indian woman of the Massett band named Mrs. Johnson, who had it for many years. it was made by her grandfather.
