Descriptiongambling games consisting of sets of carved and painted maple sticks in painted skin pouches.
stick games are very much favour among northern tribes; sticks are drawn, concealed in shredded cedar bark and divided into two or thrree bundles, only one of which contains an unmarked stick. the opposite team must spot this stick. excerpt from exhibition text: Children of the Raven 1975 to 1986
stick game. 56 sticks, rounded and all the same size. in wood, 33 inlaid with shell at one end, shell missing in 16 sticks; 22 inlaid with shell at one end and on oone side, shell missing at end of 2 sticks; 1 sstick inlaid with shell at end, on one side and with two copper pins on one side. sticks in pouch made from one piece of skin, one end folded. one side sewn with rootlets, one side sewn with skin thong. flap. skin thong ( 2 pieces knotted ) sewn to flap with skin thong. flat piece of bone with incised lines on one side attached to skin thong by means of one hole. twwo other holes andd one iron peg in bone. two holes in pouch, one seam partly broken.
