Descriptionfull zie. carved from a single piece of wood. exterior and interior finely adzed. exterior on both sides of main body is painted with a horizontal 15.4cm wide red/brown band and a 8 to 9.7cm wide vertical band of same at bow and stern. stern is painted with representation of a raven and whale painted red and black. each side is a different design of the same theme; whale has upterned tail on one side, downturned on opposite side. painting on each side of bow is an identical design motif of crouching animal and head of a bird in black, red and blue paint. variations occur in paint colours. projecting spur is painted red. four rectangular thwarts are secured to body with pairs of root lashing. each thwart has two concave notches on each side. hole 4.7cm in diameter in centrre of rear thward. rectangular black plaque with HAIDA in white is secured to exterior of one side with four metal screws.
