Descriptionhalibut hook and float. hook u shaped, of one piece of hemlock cut from knot, smoothed, steamed, and bent while soft. one arm bevelled at end, and point of square iron nail lashed on with cedar bark overlaid by spruce root. other arm notched at end. spruce root lashing attaches twisted root rope (4 ply) to this arm. rope passes through float, and is knotted at its end. float has large, asymmetric end, curves toward other end where a nail and two empty holes suggest presence of another piece.
