Descriptioncarved from a single piece of polished wood in an elongated elliptical shape with one edge slightly convex. otheer edge (which is marked with the name 'Ninstints') and ends are slightly concave as are upper and lower surfaces to keep labret in place within the lower lip incision (Niblack, p. 256). concavity in one surface is inlaid with a semi elliptical piece of abalone shell (haliotis) adhered to wood by a clear gold coloured adhesive. (originally the shell probably filled the entire surface but approx. one third of it has been broken off as is suggested by presence of adhesive on wood).
