Descriptionknife, for scraping the inner bark of the hemlock tree. straight sided, roughly semi circular blade is made from a single piece of iron. the edges of the balde are flat and are rounded at each side to form a curvilinear cutting surface. handle is amde from a single piecce of wood in the shape of a rhomboid. grain of wood follows length of handle. straight upper edge of blade is inserted into centre of handle and is coated with a black substance on each side between blade and handle. "580" in pencil on one side of handle at centre and on same side of blade.
