Descriptionknife, for scraping the inner bark of the hemlock tree. straight sided roughly semi circular blade is made form a single piece of iron. the edges of the blade are flat and are rounded at each side to form a curvilinear cutting surface. handle is made from a single piece of wood in the shape of arhomboid with currved upper edge and rounded corners. grain of wood follows length of handle. straight upper edge of blade is inserted into centrre of handle and secured with a brown substance? on each side between blade and handle. "581" in pencil on one side; "704-Skideg. Q.C.I/x 1900" in black ink. "Skideg. 1900" in pencil on blade. (now mostly missing written on hanlde).
