Descriptionan unusal dance mask of a supernatural being whose identity is now lost. The lips are edged with copper and the beard is bear fur. A wig of human hair completes the electric effect. Collected on Haida Gwaii in 1879 by Israel W. Powell.
mask of a man with long brown hair hanging from crown. short brown bear fur nailed along lower jaw. Large red lips open to reveal set of painted teeth. Most of face green, black forehead wide nostril openings, painted moustache. Round holes drilled in eyes. Thron ties at back curved stick on inside to be clenched in wearers teeth.
