Descriptionmask of wood. human face with prominent forehead, cheeks and chin. lower jaw manipulated by strings. facial design painted in green, blue, black and green. eyebrows painted black, lips and nostrils painted red. eyes and nostrils are openwork. carved piece of natural wood nailed to back of top of mask with two squareheaded iron nails. inserted in its centre is a long thin piece of wood manipulated by strings, held in place by the shaft of a feather painted to represent an animal head in 3 shades of blue, red and black. back of this piece is partly broken.
in 'Haida Art' by George MacDonald it is stated "on the top of this mask of a supernatural killer whale is a dorsal fin, which can be pulled upright with hidden strings. the lower jaw is also movable."
