Descriptionbailer, for canoe. carved from a single piece of wood ( red alder - from docementaion ) smoothly finished. scoop shaped bowl has a flattened bottom in the form of a convex triangle. sides radiate outward to curved flattened rim 1.0cm wide. bowl flares towards widened distal end and tapers upward tto form a point at proximal end. handle is carvved from the same piece of wood into the form of an elongated u with open work space in the centre to accomodate handling. upper surface is elliptical in cross section; lower surface is roughly triangular with curved upper edge. circular hole on curved part of handle; another on side of bowl 2.0cm from rim. "1895/Skidegate/128" in black ink on lower section of handle.
