Descriptionbox of cedar, of one piece of wood notched and bent at 3 places, pegged at the fourth corner. bottom is slightly wider than sides and fits inside. top is shaped to fit over rim, has rounded edges, and is flat. sides of box are of uniform thickness and are straight. at each corner, one face is at right angles to its side, while the other is concave. vertical notches on each side are about 3/4" from the corner. all pegging is with wooden pegs. commercial rope, knotted at each end, passes through 2 holes along one side. one side of lid has 2 notches near centre. other edge of lid caked with pitch. remains of dark coating on outside suggests paint.
