Descriptiona) painted sotrage box with b) lid, tied with c) cedar barrk. upright rectangular box made form a single piece of wood is kerfed, bent and steamed at three corners, fourth corner held together by row of nails and pegs. fbase is pegged to lower edge of box sides. painted designs on box show red and black animal form on front and back and singe star like design ( square shape with radiating line at 4 corners ) on each side. animal's head and body are bilaterally symmetrical with black formlines. red secondary lines and black eetertiary lines. animal forms are similar in their rectangular ear shapes, use of "salmon trou head" design for eyes and lower joints and in general body shape. design variations found in form of nose, mouth and tail of each animal. lid measuering 31cmx27cmx5cm, carved from a single block of wood. inner portion hollowed out leaving raised rip .5cm high which fits inside edge of box. lines in pencil marks edge; other pencil markings are number 704 on one edge and in centre of lid and small leaflike ddesign at corner of inside lid. tag attached ot nail in lid corner reads; "t.Moses, 704", revers side "toad skid,. c/. 4.1x.03". two strands of two ply twisted cedar cord passes twice vertically and horizontally around box. where ropes cross at sides, the lower horizontal strand wraps behind vertical cords and over horizontal ones to form loop binding the four strands together. these loops are absent on box base.
