Descriptionstraight sided cylinder type with the sides perpendicular to the base and the diameter of the circular mouth only slightly larger than the base. circular base has a radial start of double layers of spruce root fastened with a weft of same in two ply z twist twining technique with the weft rows spaced from .3 to 1.3cm apart. the foundation is then bent over the ssides to become a doubel warp with the circumference fastened with two rows of two ply z twist twining spaced .4cm apart. in some places, the basal strands are split to form two warps. additional warps are also looped around the weft strands on the base and continue vertically along the body. body is woven in openwork two ply z twist twining technique as on base with the weft rows 1cm apart, except for two closely spaced rows of same around the mouth. to form the rim, the ddouble warp strands are truncated, bent ddiagonally to the exterior over the adjacent warp and fastened with a row of two ply z twist twining. looped carrying handle of twisted cotton rop is knotted in the centre and tied to opposite sides of basket body. additional length of thinner rope is threaded between weft strands in two parallel rows along two sides of body and across base to form two loops at the mouth. handle is attached to body by tying ends through each curved loop.
