Descriptioncarved from a single piece of ivory tusk, hollow on the interior. sides flare from oval base towards elongated elliptical shaped mouth. exterior surface is carved to represent a bilaterally symmetrical figure consisting of a salmon trouts head eye beneath a rectangular ear containing a split u complex. inverted fin containing a pair of concentric circles is incised between the eyes. a human face forms the centre of the mouth flanked by a profile view of the body in kneeling position. bottom is carved to represent two claws or feet. a single line follows the contours of hte base. interior is coated wiht a deposit of llime.Exhibition HistoryHamburg Museum (7-79) - (11-?)
