Descriptionmodel double mortuary pole, in red cedar. two solid cylinders are nailed to flat, recctangular base, one at each end. near top of each, a right angled notch has been cut, the notches facing each other. a plank rests on these notches, nailed in place. accute angled notcheds behind this serve as slots into which another board is fitted forming back of container. a wider plank is pegged across front, extending past outer edges of poles. a carved dissk attached to front centre of this depicts a sseated bear in a black circle. bear is carved 3 dimensionally, with black and brown markings. front edges of the large plank have vertical notch, are painted red between notch and end of plank. a red band extends across plank at upper and lower edges. a plank with hole drilled near each end fits onto peg on each pole, closing the container. its back corners are rounded. boxes VII-B-661, 662, and 663 fit loosely inside container.collected in Massett
