Descriptionbox, to hold eulachon oil to dip food in at feasts and meals. walls are of a single piece of hardwood, notched at three places, heated and bent toward notching, and the ends sewn with withes to form the fourth corner. three notches are v shaped, the join is zig zag. all corners slightly rounded, and walls concave inside and convex outside. flat rim, up to 5/8" wide, has holes for opercula inlay. rim is convex on end walls, and slightly concave on sides. bottom of cedar is fitted in and sewn on with withes. each end has bilaterally symmetric incised face like design, and body/limb like designs on the sides. end adjacent to join resembles sea mammal; other end a bird. dark coloured.collected in Massett
