Descriptionfor paint. carved from a single piece of polished wood which tapers toa point at proximal end. flattened distal end is plit for insertion of bristles, possibly porcupine hair, secured with a lashing of cedar bark. one side of handle is carved in low relief in geometric motifs of an ellipse, two u motifs and a series of six ssquares. lashing of spruce root is wound around centre of handle. traces of red and blue paint on distal end of handle and on cedar bark. 'Massett' and '625' written in ink and '356' in pencil on handle.
