Descriptionstraight sided cylinder with slightly convex bottom constructed from spruce root in plain twined weave. warps fasteneed at centrre bottom with spruce root and spread out like series of radii on circle. two ply weft strands are woven in z twist around warp in continuous spiral. rim is constructed from round of 3 strand twining with warp cut off just above last row of stitches. one round of 3 strand twining is woven into structure at junction of bottom and side. sides are decorated with four horizontal bands (1.5cm wide). woven with spruce root dyed brown. stitched with grass in false embroidery technique, 10 diagonal parallelograms alternating in colour between pink and yellow are positioned at regular intervals on each brown band. two rounds of spruce root dyed pink interspersed with 1 natural round are woven directly beneath rim. two decorative bands (1.7cm wide each) are woven into the underside of the basket by the substitution of one of the weft strands with a strand of spruce root dyed pink. the resultant patterns in the two bands are not identical. basket sides are flexible.collected in Massett
