Descriptionstraight sided cylinder, the base and mouth of similar diameters and the height equal to diameter. slightly concavve ccircular base had radial start, worked clocckwise in 2 ply z twist twining. a series of concentric circles radiate out from centre, marking, on exterior, where additional warps have been added. the first of these bands is dyed pink and the third band dyed orange. the warps bend upwards to form side foundations; the two rows at juction each have one of their 2 ply strands dyed dark blue. flexible sides, of same twining technique as base, have been woven down form it, the base having been hung on a stake during construction. rim is formed by warps being severed, and the edge marked by a 3ply strand twined wiht a z twist, overlain by another strand with an s twist. a band of s twist false eembroidery decorates central side of basket, bordered by 2 ply z twist dark blue twinings, butterfly patter is done in grass strands dyed pink, orange, and yellow.Published ReferencesThe Basketry of the Tlinget - Emmons, G.T Aboriginal American Basketry - Mason, O.T
